Writing Children's Books:  From Concept to Contract

Tuesdays, 6:30 - 8:30 pm

If you have ever wanted to write a children’s book or already have one started, join me for this practical and informative class. I will share the tips and tricks I have  learned along my publishing journey. From mining for book ideas through receiving your first book contract, this class gives you an overview of the children’s book writing and publishing process, as well as specifics such as understanding children’s book genres, researching the children’s market, query letters and manuscript submissions. Each class includes writing exercises with weekly assignments to get your creative writing juices flowing. Jumpstart your own project with creativity sparkers and constructive critique offered in a friendly, nurturing atmosphere. Beginners welcome.

About
Debra is the Director of after school and summer arts programming at two elementary schools in Arvada, Colorado.  She writes poetry, fiction, children's books and plays and has poetry in The Cortland Review, Margie Review: The American Journal of Poetry and her short play, A Case of Good Scents was included in the Playwright's Festival of the Western Region. Debra earned a BFA in professional acting from East Carolina University.
